Along the Animas River

Along the Animas River is a 29 by 22 Landscape Art Quilt. Steam-powered with coal, the Durango to Silverton Colorado train is reminiscent of the 1880s mining days. The ride provides spectacular wilderness scenery through the San Juan Mountains sometimes hanging on a cliff, sometimes through a pine and spruce canyon, sometimes along the Animas River. I first rode this train in 1952 as a small child, on vacation from Indiana. I have been enthralled with Colorado ever since and eventually moved to Pagosa Springs. This unique fabric art landscape brings me right back to that first ride stirred with fond memories of family travels throughout the American Southwest.
